Parking enforcement in Hastings to be reviewed

Hastings Borough Council will review the changes to parking in the town following complaints.
In his plan for the year, council leader Peter Pragnell said at the first council meeting of the new administration this week: "I am aware that recent changes to the parking regime in Hastings may be causing difficulties for residents, businesses and visitors.
"Accordingly we have decided that, within the next few months, we shall carry out a review of the effects that those changes have made."
At an earlier meeting of the council cabinet, labour group leader Cllr Jeremy Birch warned that the council faced more penalty charge notice appeals over the coming 12 months, as a result of the changes, which have seen parking restrictions imposed until 8pm, and on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
He said: "The parking changes that Cllr Roy Tucker approved of have caused problems."
Responding, Cllr Tucker said: "As of this point we don't have much room for manoeuvre. I know that the 8pm position has caused a lot of reaction, therefore we will reassess this in due course."
