A package of road-safety measures is to be compiled for the area around South Bersted Primary School.
The scheme is being assembled by West Sussex County Council after councillors agreed to delay bringing in a school safety zone at the Church Lane site.

Cllr Francis Oppler asked for the postponement because of his concerns about the impact of the
scheme on parking around the school.

There is persistent illegal obstructive parking in the area.

He also wanted the impact of parking caused by the nearby war memorial hospital and Art of Dance and Fitness entertainment school to be taken into account.

County council area highways manager Tracey Webb said she would visit the site after the school had reopened to see the problems.

"I will look at the issues in detail and see what problems I can come up with," she said.
