DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a shop worker was threatened with a large knife in an armed robbery.
The man was working behind the counter at the Esso Service station on the westbound A27 at Tangmere when the robber entered just before 7.30pm yesterday (Thursday, August 28).
He threatened the worker with a large kitchen knife before snatching an undisclosed amount of cash from the till and fleeing on foot.
The worker was uninjured.
Detectives in Chichester are investigating and keen to speak to witnesses to the robbery or the man escaping.
A police spokesman said: "Police know there were customers in the service station at the time and would like them to get in touch - they also want to hear from anyone who saw the man running away."
The man is described as wearing a green balaclava, and a long sleeved black jacket buttoned up.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Chichester CID on 0845 60 70 999, quoting Serial 1722 of 28 August, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
