A CHILDREN’S centre is looking for more people to join those already running marathons to raise cash.

The Camelia Botnar Children’s Centre has runners in both the London and Brighton Marathons, but would like more to become part of “Team Camelia Botnar”.

The centre, in Wellesley Avenue, Goring, currently cares for 90 children with special needs and is entering its 33rd year of helping families across West Sussex.

It is only open in term-time at the moment, but it is hoped the gathering of additional funds through activities like the marathons will allow it to open for 50 weeks of the year.

Team Camelia Botnar currently includes runners Kelly Duff, Peter Littleboy and Emma Mitchell.

Kelly, who works as an advertising rep for the Worthing Herald, is running in the London Marathon in April.

She said: “When I found out I had a place, I asked my editorial colleagues for information on local charities and after doing some research I chose to support the Camelia Botnar Children’s Centre for the wonderful work they do with special needs families.”

Peter Littleboy, who has taken part in several charity events in the past few years, is tackling the Brighton Marathon.

He said: “My niece attends the Camelia Botnar Children’s Centre and so I am aware of the great work that goes on and also that the need for fund-raising is so important, no matter how small.”

For more information on how to support the centre, contact Michael Kay, director of partnerships and fund-raising, on 07711 432491 or 01903 504077 or by emailing michael.kay.cbcc@btconnect.com.
