PICTURES: Findon Summer Revels proves a success
CROWDS gathered to see a Kung Fu demonstration, the procession of the May Queen, and other highlights at this year’s Findon Summer Revels.
The 150-year-old event, which is hosted by St John the Baptist Primary School, in School Hill, took place on Saturday, May 21.
After a procession of children through the village, led by the May Queen and her princesses, there was a display of country dancing at Pond Green.
Then, following the dancing, the procession returned to the school field for Maypole dancing and the school’s fete.
Headteacher Richard Yelland described the day as a success which brought together the whole village.
He said: “It went really well and the turn-out was excellent. Lots of people from the village came, as well as those involved in the school, and followed the procession back to the school, where they spent money at the fete.”
For the third year running the procession was led by miniature toy pony Princess Snowdrop, from Findon animal sanctuary PAWS.
