A failure? No way

I AM amazed at Tim Loughton MP implying that Boundstone Community College was a failure.

He must know that it was rated good or satisfactory in nearly all aspects in its last Ofsted inspection in 2006, and was given the unusual accolade in the two subsequent years of “one of the most improved schools in the country” by the prestigious Specialist Schools and Academies Trusts.

It was because of these firm foundations that Woodard decided to make the academy their “flagship” and to name it after the grandson of their founder.

I can assure you Mr Loughton praised the successes of Boundstone to me personally and to many other teachers when visiting in the past, and I can only assume that he is attempting to rewrite history for cynical political reasons.

Of course, Boundstone had problems a decade ago, but these had been solved through the efforts of head teacher Richard Evea and staff, and it was well on the way to achieving excellence, before Woodard came in and destroyed all that progress.

How sad for the local MP, who should be on the side of the local community, to rubbish the school which had served it so well.
