Brilliant conducting
ON SATURDAY, at the Assembly Hall, we enjoyed a superb concert of Music from the Movies, given by the Central Band of the Royal British Legion, under the charismatic conductor, Captain David Cole.
Sadly, as with last year, there was only a small audience.
This is a great pity as the band has to book the hall on its own account and with only a low attendance, they are losing money.
Captain Cole said that they cannot afford to continue to come to Worthing on this basis, but he has agreed to give it another try next year.
So, come on, you music lovers, make a note in your diaries to look for the band coming again next year. You can check on their website.
Every musician will tell you that out of the halls they play, the Assembly Hall has some of the best acoustics.
If you want a "taster", they will be playing for a week at the Eastbourne Bandstand in August.
Otherwise, you are missing a wonderful evening of music with some brilliant arrangements and conducting.
