Paying over the odds

I am amazed at the costings of the proposed new Worthing swimming pool (Full speed ahead for swim pool, Herald January 21).

Read the latest on Worthing's swimming pool plans.

Northampton has recently built a 50 metre pool for 17m, and Norfolk's Norfolk's new leisure centre at Dereham, incorporating a 25 metre pool, plus learner pool, gym etc. ,cost in the region of 6m-9m.

Why does everything have to cost so much more in Worthing?

It seems the residents are constantly being "ripped off".

Unlike most areas, there's no free swimming for the over-60s, council taxes are higher, the bus fares are astronomical, parking charges are ridiculous.

Here, in Dereham, because all parking is free and shopping facilities are good, people flock to the town from miles around.

What Worthing needs is a park and ride system
