Residents group will miss this real 'gentleman'

OCCASIONALLY in one's life, we come across and get know people who, without effort or affectation, make a difference to the lives of those they meet.

"Bill" Fox, immediate past chairman of the High Salvington Residents' Association, who died at Worthing Hospital on Tuesday, February 23, was such a person.

He cared deeply for the community in which he lived, both the people and the environment.

In representing them, he was inquisitive, dogged and determined, not one to settle for second-best.

But surely everyone who knew Bill recognised how this combined with unfailing courtesy, innate gentleness of spirit, care for the concerns and fallibilities of others and a total lack of self-importance?

It may be rather old-hat to say so but Bill was a real "gentleman".

Our sincere condolences go to his wife, Joyce, and their family.

Those of us who had the pleasure of knowing Bill mourn the passing of a lovely man.
