Susan no comparison

I WAS disgusted to read Ian Hart's comment (Herald, June 18) regarding the arrival of the Great British Circus at Dial Post.

I am proud that Worthing Borough Council has refused to allow this barbaric "entertainment" onto public land. Using animals in circuses is cruel and out-dated.

As for comparing the animals' treatment to that of Susan Boyle on Britain's Got Talent, I am utterly enraged.

Susan Boyle CHOSE to enter the competition.

The elephants and tigers have no say in whether they are dragged around the country and paraded in front of noisy audiences.

Susan Boyle is also choosing to continue to take part in the show's publicity and tour, and she is set to make a great deal of money from a record contract.

The animals in circuses will see no benefit, only years of suffering and an unnatural life.

I feel the Herald should not allow someone who has no knowledge of these matters to comment on them in such a flippant way.

Ian Hart tells it how it is not.

I would like to refer him to the RSPCA website for details on the suffering of animals in circuses.
