The Eagle enjoyed it

I WOULD like to say thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make Worthing Birdman such a great event.

Eddie thoroughly enjoyed the day.

As a Sparks Ambassador he has done a variety of roles for us to raise monies and awareness to help all babies and children be born healthy and stay healthy.

But I don't think until now we had asked him to jump 35ft into the sea, wearing full ski kit.

My biggest worry was him sinking in his ski boots!

I contacted him on Sunday evening to say he had won the funniest moment of the weekend.

His reaction was 'Crikey!!! – thank you'.

He also passed on his thanks; from him and his family for the warm welcome he was given in Worthing.

The champagne, Simon at the Indigo had offered for each metre completed, has been left with us to fund-raise.

The first is to be used in our Sparks event 'A word before dinner' on August 31, at the Indigo Restaurant.

We are still collecting donations at www.justgiving.com/Ann-Marie-Blackman and are hoping that Eddie's equipment and cape will be on eBay soon – it is taking up far too much space in my hall. Buyer collects.
