There is a difference Ian
MAY I welcome Ian Hart's new column and thank him so much for straight away putting my mind at rest and enlightening me with his article regarding circus animals at Dial Post.
Until today, I had no idea that they – like Susan Boyle – were given the opportunity of choosing whether they wished to perform to live audiences.
The animals are indeed fed and watered, but unfortunately do not have the choice of being treated in a private clinic when things go sadly wrong.
Yes, I, too, was taken as a child to see the circuses you mentioned but, unlike Ian, I grew up with the ability to differentiate between unpleasant misuse of animals and what is in essence mindless trivia where every entrant has freedom of choice.
