A CHEERLEADING squad is jumping for joy after scooping three first places in a tough competition.
Panthers Allstars Worthing are on a winning roll after taking home three first places and one second place in the British Cheerleading Association’s Southern Classics contest.
The squad has taken part in the competition every year, since the squad formed in 2007, but only got their first victory in November last year.
Marion Harrison, head coach, said there were “lots of tears and lots of screams” when the squad heard the results.
“It was the best competition they have ever had,” she said. “It was absolutely outstanding.”
Almost 1,000 cheerleaders descended on Devonshire Park Centre, Eastbourne, on Saturday, November 5, for the competition.
Panthers Allstars came first in the youth cheer level two competition, youth stunt group level two, and senior cheer level three and four.
They also came second in the senior cheer level three and four, but were the first placed level three squad.
The 50-strong squad, sponsored by Dial a Hubby, trains on a Monday night at Worthing High School, has a gymnastics class every other week, and, near competitions, carries out extra Sunday rehearsals.
Anyone interested in joining the cheerleading squad, should call Marion on 07793029170 or email worthingpanthers@yahoo.co.uk
