PAEDIATRIC surgery at Crawley Hospital will be shunted to East Surrey Hospital as part of another 'reconfiguration' of the town's health services.

It had been feared the Jumbo Ward at Crawley would be scrapped altogether after health bosses announced they had failed to appoint enough 'middle grade' and 'Trust grade' medical staff.

But Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH) chiefs now claim to have reached a short-term solution after consultations with West Sussex PCT and GPs.

As part of these changes minor operations will no longer be carried out at Crawley Hospital, giving parents no choice but to travel to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.
