A broken down tanker carrying 6,300 metric tonnes of gasoline was drifting towards Beachy Head this afternoon.
The tanker, Stolt Teal, carrying 21 people, was seven-and-a-half miles offshore.

Coastguards said the tanker was drifting even with its anchor down while repairs were taking place.

A tug has been sent to the tankers aid.
