A BUMPER fun day, to raise money for cancer charities and to remember a young man struck by the disease, is being held on July 5.
Jamie's Wish 2008 day will mark one year since Jamie Buckland, who would have celebrated his 21st birthday on July 8, died. He had been suffering from a cancerous brain tumour for four years. His family have vowed to carry on fundraising, for others in the same situation.

The day, at Littlehampton Scout Hall, Linden Park, offers a wealth of activities, and an evening event, and all proceeds will go to families affected by cancer.

Running from 11am to 5pm, the daytime event is free to enter, and offers a tombola, a raffle, plants and a bouncy castle, as well as games such as guess how many balloons are in the car and a silent auction.

There will also be a baby competition, at 1pm, with a star prize of a Baby Graco swing and hamper, donated by Baby days, as well as prizes for second and third place.

At 2pm, there will be a balloon race, and at 2.30pm a traditional knobbly knees competition. At 3.30pm, its eyes down for bingo, and an hour later a corn on the cob eating competition will start.

The day will finish with a quiz, at 5pm, before evening entertainment starts at 7pm, with tickets costing £5, and under 18s going free.

A bar will be serving all drinks at £1.50, and live entertainment will be provided by local folk rock band Banjaxed, and even Elvis.

A raffle of top prizes donated by local business will also take place during the evening. These include a family ticket to HMS Belfast and the London Dungeons, a £30 meal voucher donated by the White Swan,
Arundel, and £20 meal voucher from Angmering's Spotted Cow, and two tickets to Arundel Castle.

There are also tickets to Longleat, donated by the park, and a number of Tesco products.

An advance bingo event will take place on Friday, June 27, at Wick Hall, Wick Street, with eyes down at 2.30pm. There is a 50p entrance charge and a raffle, with all proceeds going to Jamie's Wish.
