VANDALISM at a derelict Littlehampton pub resulted in a gas leak, and an area of the town centre being cordened off on Friday. (April 25, 2008)
Emergency services were called to the Locomotive, in Terminus Road, at around noon, after the smell of gas was reported.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue confirmed that vandals had broken the incoming gas and water mains.

TRANSCO isolated the gas supply, while Littlehampton fire crews did the same for the water supply.

An area around the pub, which has been empty for some time, was closed off for around two hours.

The matter is now in the hands of the police. Anyone with information should call Littlehampton police on 0845 60 70 999.
