HASTINGS marked Britain's status as the 2012 Olympic host country as the Beijing games came to a close at the weekend.
Spectators outside the Town Hall on Sunday enjoyed displays by South East Stars Cheerleaders, a karate group and mini-athletic demonstrations by the borough council's Street Games team.

An official Olympic handover flag was raised by Hastings' own Olympic athlete Sean Baldock and Mayor Maureen Charlesworth.

The activities were among hundreds that took place across the country as London became the official Olympic city.
