ELECTION: Adur seats for Lancing

MAY 1 is election time, with candidates battling it out in the Adur district.
A third of council seats are up for grabs, although an extra four seats are available in Adur because of retirements and resignations.

Adur District Council is a Conservative stronghold, with 22 Tory councillors, one Liberal Democrat and one Indep
endent.

The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats are contesting all seats, Labour has fielded candidates in every ward and the Green Party has six representatives.

The UK Independence Party and Independents are also standing.

Elections are due to be held for the district council in all 14 Adur wards, as well as for the parish councils in Lancing and Sompting.

Candidates for the district council elections in the Lancing and Sompting wards are as follows (* denotes current ward councillor):

Churchill ward – Pat Beresford, Conservative; Kim Bonnett, Liberal Democrat; Stephen Martin, Liberal Democrat; Ann Terry, Conservative; Michael Thornton, Labour. (Current councillors Carol Bradburn and Jaynie Sykes-Strudwick are not standing for re-election).

Cokeham ward – Nilda Dooraree, Liberal Democrat; Barry Mear, Labour; Norman Wright, Conservative. (Current councillor Nicholas Piggott is not standing for re-election).

Manor ward – *Keith Dollemore, Conservative; Stuart Douch, Liberal Democrat; Jean Turner, Labour.

Mash Barn ward – *Brenda Collard, Conservative; Moira Collins, Liberal Democrat; Joyce Horne, UK Independence Party; John Wales, Labour.

Peverel ward – *Carson Albury, Conservative, Kenneth Bashford, Labour; Pauline Francis, Liberal Democrat; Ron Horne, UK Independence Party.

Widewater ward – Ann Bridges, Conservative; Cyril Cannings, Liberal Democrat; David Devoy, Labour; Reginald Dolding, Liberal Democrat; Fred Lewis, Conservative; Doris Martin, Liberal Democrat; *Tony Nicklen, Conservative. (Current councillors Wendy Gray and Christine Turner are not standing for re-election).
