Despite the unseasonal weather of high winds and rain, an It's A Knockout tournament was still staged by the club as part of its anniversary celebrations.

Local MP Tim Loughton officially opened the event at Monks recreation ground in Crabtree Lane, Lancing, before teams took part in the contest involving inflatable obstacles, costumes, water and bubbles.

The teams were split into three different age groups, seven to 10-year-olds, 11 to 14-year-olds and adults.

The results were: Seven to 10 years, 1st Project One; 2nd The Rascals; 3rd Force 10. 11-14 years, 1st Josh's Boys; 2nd Right Shape Balls; 3rd Project two. Adults, 1st Under and over 40s; 2nd Pink Ladies; 3rd Steel Roots

Lancing Rangers FC was founded in 1982. It now has 19 squads and more than 300 registered players and is the second largest club playing in the Arun and Chichester Football League.

It successfully achieved FA Charter Development status - one of only 10 clubs in Sussex to be granted such an award.

The teams cater for under-sixs right through to the under-16's for boys and girls with an under-12's team. The girl's football is an area which the club is are looking to develop over the next few years.

Club press officer Warren Venour said: "We had a great time on Sunday. It was a shame about the weather but we wanted to carry on with the planned events to mark our anniversary."
