A TEENAGE girl was caught trying to break into a house.
The occupant of the home in Test Road, Sompting, disturbed the girl trying to open a window on Sunday night (July 27).
She ran away towards Alldays in Test Road. She is described as being aged 14 to 15, with dark hair, 5ft 6in tall, of slim build and was wearing a black jacket and light coloured t-shirt.
A police spokesman reminded people not to leave their homes as an open invitation to thieves this summer.
He said: "The warmer weather means there is a tendency to keep windows and doors open for ventilation. Although this is more comfortable, it can make homes more vulnerable to thieves."
Anybody with any information about this attempted burglary is asked to ring 0845 6070999.
