WORTHING-based band Gunshot Straight have three aims – to be successful, be at the forefront of British music and keep rock 'n' roll alive.
The band was only formed last year after they all attended an open mic night at The Elms pub in Broadwater.

They ended up on the stage together and realised they had something.

Gunshot Straight was born and the trio – Dan Orchard, Chris Carnell and Joss Love – immediately started rehearsing and playing in local venues.

In November 2008, the band hit the studio and recorded their first EP called Build a Barricade, which is inspired by Led Zeppelin, Free and Green Day.

Drummer Joss said: "This fusion of styles has led to one of the most original sounds you'll hear, whilst still being recognisable to admirers of honest rock 'n' roll."

Gunshot Straight have performed their way to success in various competitions, including Battle of the Bands at the Worthing Assembly Hall and most recently the Live and Unsigned competition, where they made it through to the regional finals.

Chris Carnell (guitar and vocals) sites his influences as John Squire and Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and the 26-year-old's style is said to be "aggressive yet melodic".

Dan Orchard (bass and vocals) is now 25 but grew up in a musical family with his father being an professional musician in the 1960s and 1970s.

Dan plays in a blues style but with a pinch of punk for good measure.

Joss Love is just 17 and a self taught drummer who has defined his own unique playing style.

He said: "It's great being in a band all together. We're currently working on a new project which is in working progress, and will be ready in the next coming months."
