ARTISTS from Steyning are showcasing their work to an international audience.
A new installation art project was officially launched at Wiston House, near Steyning, on Thursday.

The 16th-century manor house, set in 5,000 acres of park and downland, is home to the Wilton Park conference centre.

The idea for the project was developed from the Steyning Festival and co-ordinated by local artist Carol Wagstaff.

She told the Herald: "The launch gave the artists an opportunity to see their work in situ, to enjoy Wiston House and the beautiful grounds, and to make contact with the other artists, many unknown to one another.

"In addition, there were representatives from a number of galleries for whom it was an ideal situation to meet the artists and to see their work in this magnificent setting."

Carol added the exhibition would not have gone ahead without the support of Wilton Park finance director Tim Willows, who is hosting the exhibition.

Mr Willows said: "Wilton Park aims to help promote and support links with the local community.

"We are, therefore, delighted to showcase an inaugural exhibition of paintings, sculpture and design from 12 local artists and designers, whose work encompasses traditional, contemporary and abstract design. This selection of their work demonstrates the breadth of artistic talent that exists in and around the historic town of Steyning."
