AFTER many difficult months of searching for financial support, the Ropetackle Arts Centre has been thrown a lifeline by Adur District Council.
There is no arts centre in the country that can survive without funding, and Ropetackle is no exception.

Now, the vision of Adur council will prove invaluable, over the next few months, the already successful autumn programme can raise revenue, th
e spring programme take shape and the arts centre continue to take root.

In these tempestuous times the escapism offered by theatre, film and music is a precious benefit – but to have it on your doorstep alongside library, post office, church and community centre shows Adur to be a truly civilised, great place to live.

Business at Ropetackle continues this weekend with the ever popular Airport Club – Friday, October 10, tickets £12, doors 7pm, musical mayhem from 8pm.

The club is as hard to describe as it is to forget once experienced. Expect a blend of classical solos, singer-songwriters, comedy and rock, all mixed in with visual wizardry and multiple projections.

Saturday Morning Pictures is next with Shrek the Third (October 11, 11am, £3 including drink and biscuit).

Grown-ups can watch the film or sit in the café and read the paper.

On Sunday, October 12 film maker Phil Grabsky presents a special screening of his film Muhammad Ali: Through the Eyes of the World.

Film enthusiasts can take part in the after-show director's question and answer sessions, whilse sports fans can enjoy what the Telegraph described as an "intelligent, measured and unmissable film".

It starts 7pm, tickets £5, bar open throughout.

Tickets for events at the Ropetackle Centre can be booked by calling 01273 464440, and the box office is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and one hour before each performance.
