THIS year's Worthing Festival concert is set to be one of the best yet, according to organisers.
Bucks Fizz and Ultimate Earth Wind and Fire were unveiled as performers by DJ David Hamilton during Splash FM's fifth birthday show.
The Splash FM free concert is sponsored by Norwich Union and is one of the highlights of the two-week-long summer festival.
The festival itself is run by Worthing Lions and supported by the Worthing Herald, Splash FM, HD Tribe and Jacobs Steel.
David Cunningham, Splash FM operations director, said: "We have had so many great performers in the past that we have almost made a rod for our own back to top previous concerts, but I think – weather permitting – this will be a night for Worthing to remember for a long time."
Bucks Fizz were formed in 1981 and had a series of hits before splitting in 1988.
In 2004, three of the original four members – Mike Nolan, Cheryl Baker and Shelley Preston – re-formed.
David said: "If you loved the 1980s and want to relive that moment when the skirts were ripped off, then the original Bucks Fizz is the band for you."
Ultimate Earth Wind and Fire, a 12-piece tribute band, are the biggest band to perform at the festival.
The concert will be held in Steyne Gardens on Saturday, July 26, from 7.30pm. Local acts will also be taking part, to be announced at a later date.
