Supermarket staff help care for baby deer

STAFF at a supermarket helped rescuers care for a baby deer.
East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service staff were called in after someone found the baby deer running along a road in Storrington.
After veterinary treatment it was taken to their home in Newhaven and later collected by WRAS fundraiser Julie Hosier who drove it to Uckfield.
Uckfied-based co-ordinator Trevor Weeks examined the deer in Tesco's car park and bought a baby bottle.
Staff helped get some warm water and salts so the deer could be given some vital fluids.
He said: 'It was very tiny. I was concerned about its health so we decided to rush it to a specialist wildlife hospital in Buckinghamshire.'
The cost of the rescue mission was paid for by WRAS volunteers because funds are low as demand for their services has been twice as high this year.
