CLASSIC CARS: In Littlehampton

ROARING engines and hot rod action will form the core of a charity fund-raising extravaganza.

More than 600 classic American and British cars will travel to Littlehampton seafront for Beach Green Motormania, a mammoth car show in aid of Help for Heroes, on Sunday, September 5.

The action is not limited to cars, as the Moonies Loonies Motorcycle Club, from Sompting, will be among the many biking groups on The Green throughout the day.

Crews from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service will give a road accident extrication demonstration with help from members of the Red Cross.

And it won't just be all muscle cars and petrol heads, as organisers have aimed to include something for everyone, including displays from the Silk Road Belly Dancers and the Sussex Tornados, and dance groups Cascades and Body Shock.

There will also be music, including 60s rock and roll from The Fire Tones, and jive and swing from Savoy Swing, who will also be leading workshops, and a live DJ in between.

A charity auction, hog roasts, beer tent and face painting will be on offer, and children can take part in a fancy dress competition, with categories zero to four, five to eight, and nine to 12.

Gates open at 10am, when the event is officially opened

by chairman of Arun District Council, Dudley Wensley, and will close at 5pm.

Entry is free.
