ON STAGE: Godspell at Littlehampton's Windmill
THE cast of New Southern Musical Productions' new show Godspell, used Worthing's wood to full advantage for their publicity photographs.
Teamed with a funny script and music by Stephen Schwartz, the team that who brought you the smash hit musical Tommy last year, are in the final stages of preparing for the high energy musical.
Godspell was first released in 1971 and was a huge hit.
It is based on the gospel of St Matthew and tells the story, via lots of comedy and wonderful songs, of Jesus meeting his disciples and passing on his teachings to them.
Playing the pivotal role of Jesus is local performer David Pickersgill who is himself training to become an Anglican vicar.
He is currently involved with Maybridge Community Church, carrying out lots of youth work and leading a breakfast club at a local primary school, and is also studying theology.
David is supported by many well known performers from the area playing the Disciples and other historical figures in the show.
Director Ross Muir brings a witty, humorous and touching take on the show and combined with the musical prowess of Nigel Newman and Brett Wellcome with choreography by Michaela Nicholls's it is sure to be a great show.
Thursday, April 10 to Saturday, April 12 at the Windmill Theatre, Littlehampton, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm
