POETRY: Three Sussex Poets in Worthing
THREE Worthing writers and poets have joined forces to produce their first poetry collection.
The trip will be launching the book, Three Sussex Poets, at Waterstone's, in Montague Street on Saturday, May 23, at 2.30pm.
Published by White Door Press, the collection features Russ Bravo, Steve Carroll and Martin Collins, with each contributing a range of poems from their repertoire.
Styles range from passionate, political and polemical, via spiritual, thoughtful and emotionally charged, through to surreal, witty and traditional British nonsense.
Russ, a journalist who works for Christian Publishing and Outreach (CPO), said: "We'd been friends for a number of years, performing here and there in pubs, clubs and festivals, and so the idea of Three Sussex Poets was a natural progression for us."
Russ is already known in the town for running Matt's Comedy Club, which holds regular nights at the Dome Cinema's function suite.
Steve, who designed the book, runs his own graphic design business and is the author of the Riddler's Fayre fantasy graphic novel series.
Martin, meanwhile, is a former Worthing Herald photographer.
He also works for CPO and has had poems published in a range of collections over the years.
The trio plan a number of live poetry events to showcase the material in the coming months, starting with the launch event with free live performance at Waterstone's.
Three Sussex Poets is priced 5.
