MORE venues than ever are preparing to take part in this year’s Worthing Open Houses arts trail.

Last year, the event achieved record-breaking figures for two weekends towards the end of the summer, with more than 200 artists exhibiting at 42 venues throughout the town, and more than 10,000 people visiting.

This year’s event will take place across three weekends – from June 18 to July 3.

Worthing artist Teresa Stewart-Goodman, whose work includes intricately hand-crafted cut-paper collages created in fabric and paper, has produced a unique new logo for the event, which has become West Sussex’s biggest arts trail.

The original artwork for the logo includes typography which is hand-cut, mounted and then photographed.

Photographer Steve Speller, who transferred the work to computer, said: “You won’t find this font in any software on earth.

“From A to Z, it belongs in Worthing and not even Apple or Microsoft can get their hands on this one. It will become our truly exclusive identity into the future.”

The number of venues signed up has already surpassed last year’s figure. This year, businesses can be included and six town centre companies have already agreed to take part.

Traditional open house venues, including private homes, are still required.

Those wishing to take part in the event should email spellermilner@ntlworld.com or martin@bigproductions.co.uk
