A PIPE leaked “10 years’ domestic supply of water” after it was left unfixed for two weeks.
Martin Rice, of Coombe Rise, Findon Valley, had a water meter installed in July when he heard a “hissing noise” coming from one of his pipes. Within a day, a Southern Water engineer was called to look at the problem and confirmed it was a big leak which would be fixed the next day.
But it took Southern Water two weeks to fix the leaky pipe, after Martin made repeated calls to the company and even sent a letter asking for the problem to be mended.
Martin, 41, said he was told by a representative from Southern Water’s customer care centre that 450 cubic metres of water, or “10 years of domestic supply”, had been lost.
