THE A27 Southwick Tunnel will be closed tonight (Tuesday, September 6) as work takes place to repair the tunnel’s emergency telephones, which are currently not in operation.
To minimise disruption to road users, the two sides of the tunnel will not be closed at the same time.
The eastbound side will be closed first, from 8pm, followed by the westbound.
It is anticipated the work in each side will take up to two hours, depending on the cause of the fault and how quickly it can be resolved.
Clearly-signed diversions will be in place via the A270 and A293.
