Old Shoreham Road GP practice has been temporarily closed following the Saturday’s devastating plane crash.

Police have closed part of the A27 – between the A2025 Grinstead Lane and the A293, near West Hove Golf Club while emergency services work at the scene.

A spokeswoman for West Sussex Coastal Clinical Commissioning Group said: “The practice has had to make the difficult decision while the A27 remains closed, as staff are unable to get in and out of the area to reach the surgery site.

“Patients will continue to be able to receive care and support from the practice’s New Pond Row surgery.

“The practice has increased staffing levels and intends to keep the phone lines open throughout the day to make sure that all patients can contact the practice and receive the help they need.

“They are also working with NHS partners who use the rooms at the Old Shoreham Road surgery to make alternative arrangements.”

“The practice will work to keep patients updated on when the Old Shoreham Road surgery will open again, but asks patients to only contact the team if they need medical help or support, and not to see if the surgery is open.

“The practice team send their deepest sympathies to all affected by this tragic event.”

Sussex Police said the road is not expected to open before Wednesday (August 26).
