Appeal for witnesses after woman dragged from bed and tied up in Worthing

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a burglary in which a woman was tied up.

On Wednesday evening (September 5), at around 9.30pm, three masked men smashed their way into the main house of Woodland Stables in Titnore Lane.

The property was occupied by a 61-year-old woman who was asleep in her bed at the time.

The men pulled her from her bed and tied her feet together and her hands behind her back and demanded money from her.

The ordeal lasted about 10 minutes before the men left, leaving the occupant bound on her bedroom floor.

The woman was not seriously injured, however was left extremely shaken.

Detective Constable Andy Hobden from Worthing CID said: “This was a harrowing ordeal for the victim to go through, she was alone in her home and subjected to such a scary incident. Anything of any value has now been removed from the property. Someone will know who has done this and they urge them to come forward. Anyone with any information or who saw anything suspicious is urged to come forward and help us with our enquires. Please call police on 101 quoting 1767 of 5/9.”
