POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a metal theft in Shelley Road, Worthing, on Tuesday, August 7.

Officers are hoping to identify the man in this photograph, who they said may be involved in the theft of copper from a block of flats in the road.

An unknown quantity of copper was taken from the roof of the flats at 4.50am.

There is believed to be two suspects.

The first suspect, seen in the CCTV image, is described as a white man, aged between 35 and 40, 5ft 9in of averge build and with short dark hair.

He was wearing a blue jumper and dark blue jogging bottoms with red lines running down the legs and white trainers.

There is no description for the second suspect.

It is also thought this man is linked to another attempted metal theft in Westbrooke, Worthing, between August 4 and August 6.

Sussex Police has been tackling metal thefts across the county as part of the nationwide Operation Tornado.
