THE Aquarena site has been sold to Roffey Homes for more than £5million.
Subject to planning permission, the company plans to redevelop the site with a mixture of apartments, affordable housing, some commercial use and public parking.
Bryan Turner, Worthing cabinet member for regeneration, said: “This agreement marks yet another step in the transformation of the seafront. I look forward to working with Roffey Homes, to bring another high quality development to Worthing.”
Ben Cheal of Roffey Homes said: “Over the next nine months we shall be working very closely with Worthing planners and a regional design panel to provide a landmark development that will continue the regeneration of this area of Worthing seafront.
“We have appointed Devereux Architects, a London based architect, to carry out the architectural design works and are looking at a contemporary design for this site.”
A public consultation will take place before the planning application is submitted next summer.
