Ashington gears up for its annual festival

Starting with the carnival procession in Foster Lane at 1.30pm, it will make its way onto the village field, which will host the majority of the day’s attractions.

Entertainment, a funfair, fireworks, a fun dog show, stalls and refreshments are just some of the activities on offer over the course of the day.

Organiser Margaret Alford said: “Ashington Festival is going to be even bigger and better than last year and we’ve been working hard all year to pack even more in.

“We’re delighted to have many more floats and walking groups registered for the carnival, which will once again finish on the field.”

A free car park, signposted off the A24, will be available on the day, with the day finishing at 10pm.
