THE winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year 2014 will share the stage with the Worthing Symphony Orchestra on Sunday.

Martin Bartlett, 17, will play Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 as part of an afternoon of Vienesse New Year Celebrations.

John Gibbons, the orchestra’s principal conductor, said: “Worthing Symphony Orchestra had the pleasure of working with BBC Young Musician of the Year, Martin Bartlett, at the 2014 Malcolm Arnold Festival so we are thrilled to be welcoming such an outstanding young musician to Worthing on Sunday.

“He is a wonderfully sensitive musician with an astonishing technique and is destined for great things.”

Martin began playing the piano aged six. At the age of eight, he began studying at the Royal College of Music Junior Department.

He has won many competitions and performed in a number of prestigious venues, including Wigmore Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall.
