Band set up by disability charity launch album

The Revs are a six- piece band made up of five members who have learning disabilities and a support worker. They are supported by Outreach 3 Way’s Out There project to write, record and perform their own songs at various events and venues across the region.

The group launched their album at Worthing Leisure Centre. This debut album uses a mix of genres to tackle both positive and negative social issues including government cuts, overcoming depression and love.

Guests of the launch watched the band perform the album tracks. They also met and chatted with the members and had a chance to buy the album.

The band formed three years ago and their first performance was at a club night for people with learning disabilities.

Richard DeNiese, Sports and Leisure Development Officer for Out There, helps manage the band. He said: “I am so proud and pleased that they have released their first album. They have worked so hard on creating this, putting in lots of time and practice. It was great to see them being able to showcase their work at the launch event and to see them being able to share their music with fans.

“They enjoyed every minute of playing to this crowd and they proved popular with the audience. They love to play across a variety of venues in the region and are well-known already; for any group it’s exciting to release a debut album and it has really boosted their confidence and ambition.”
