A POPULAR Worthing barbers has won the celebrated Salon of the Year title in a Herald and Gazette competition.
Ghodsi Barbers, in Warwick Street, Worthing, and Goring Road, Goring, was voted for by readers.
Owner Ghodsi Young, who is originally from Iran, was elated to have won the award and thanked her close team.
“The amazing thing is we are all friends, we work together and we look after each other. Otherwise we would have never have been anywhere,” she said.
“We have an expression in our country that says you can’t clap with one hand, you have to clap with two hands. It means you have to be together to do it.”
Admitting that her customers are close to her, she said: “I see them in the street and ask them how they have been, what are they doing. We are in communication all the time. I love them, it’s part of my life.”
Ghodsi, who prides herself on the importance of her work, said she told her husband Alan: “You’re married to two people not just one, me and my work. He accepted.”
In June, readers were given the chance to nominate salons in the area for a final shortlist and were then able to vote for their favourite salon.
