A SPECIALIST police search unit have recovered bags of jewellery from a murky pond in Durrington.

Officers have spent the last two days searching the pond, in Whitebeam Woods, after receiving a call from a member of public on Wednesday afternoon.

The caller’s suspicions were raised while they were walking their dog. According to police, the dog jumped into the water and recovered a jacket.

The jewellery is believed to be linked to a number of burglaries in the area.

A police spokesman said the items would be taken away to be cleaned and attempts would be made to identify where it came from.

There is no further information at present.
