A second man has been arrested on suspicion of murder by detectives investigating the disappearance of Lancing man Mark Manning.
Sussex Police announced this evening (May 13) they had bailed the 49 year old after arresting him yesterday (May 12).
“Officers launched a murder investigation last June,” said a police spokesman. “A year on and despite extensive proof of life enquiries and searches, no one has reported hearing from or seeing Mark. His body has not been found.”
After making an appeal for information recently, it appeared there was a breakthrough in the case after officers arrested a 38-year-old Worthing man on May 6 on suspicion of the murder of Mr Manning.
Mr Manning, 54, of Brighton Road, was last seen on April 19, 2014, before his family reported him missing on April 22. They said it was completely out of character for him to disappear.
Both men are bailed until June 25.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Mr Manning should ring police on 101 or email firstname.lastname@example.org quoting Operation Light or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
