WITH development of its staff at the heart of Fontwell Park’s priorities, it won’t be surprising to learn which category it will be sponsoring this year.

The horse-racing and events venue is sponsoring the ‘training and development’ category of the Adur and Worthing Business Awards, and general manager Tracy Skinner explained a recent initiative which attempted to improve the skills of the unemployed.

She said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the training and development category at the Adur and Worthing Business Awards.

“At Fontwell Park, we are committed to developing our own team and have recently worked with the Job Centre to offer work experience to the long-term unemployed so that they can learn new skills to help them secure a job in the future.”

She added: “It was so successful that we have employed one of the candidates on a full-time contract and he is about to embark on NVQ training, along with other members of the team.”

Fontwell hosts 24 horse racing fixtures a year, from mid-week fixtures to weekend and evening meets, which combines the excitement of racing, with entertainment such as live bands and plenty of activities for children.

Aside from racing, Fontwell Park is the perfect destination for a huge range of events.

The venue caters for a range of events, including weddings, banqueting, exhibitions, Christmas parties and has meeting space for up to 400 guests.

From the traditional Fontwell House, to the premier grandstand and paddock marquee, Fontwell has three venues to suit any occasion.
