NOMINATIONS for this year’s Adur and Worthing Business Awards are fast rolling in.

With a broad spectrum of sponsors already on board, plans are fully in motion for the eagerly-awaited black-tie ceremony rounding the event off in November.

Meridian’s Fred Dinenage returns as compere for the ceremony at Worthing Pavilion, with the evening throwing a deserving spotlight on a wide range of enterprises and individuals.

But as is always the case, we need your support in ensuring its success – which means we’re eager to hear from as many people as possible from within the business community in Worthing and Adur.

In terms of nominating, employees or managers can put their own company forward, though submissions from peers and customers are generally considered the standard means of entering.

While financial realities of coping with a double-dip recession mean many businesses are continuing to be presented with challenges, there have been some notable success stories in recent times which should lend encouragement.

So we are expecting a similarly strong response from individuals and companies this year to highlight some of our unsung successes.

One company which has been nominated by customers this year and knows all too well the value of an accolade is Chilcha, in Worthing. The Montague Street, Worthing, venue gained a coveted restaurant of the year award in 2009, in addition to gathering further highly-commended certificates.

Owner Mohammed Wahid was delighted to have been put forward for an award this year and believed as many companies as possible should be involved in the event.

He said: “I’m very pleased to have been nominated again this year as we’ve had to work very hard with the business. But we are lucky to have some really good regular customers which has meant we are doing well.

“It was wonderful to win an award in 2009, which has been fantastic for the business as it has meant that our name has been everywhere.”
