Storms damage Worthing ice rink
SKATERS may be disappointed today (December 13) after high winds damaged the Worthing ice rink last night.
The temporary ice rink in Steyne Gardens saw boards being torn off by winds which hit a top speed of 54mph.
The tarpaulin was also torn off the roof of the ticket office, drenching the interior, while the rain left pools of water on the ice rink itself.
Manager of the rink, Alan Cook, said: “We are working as hard and as fast as we can to get the repairs done. It is incredible how much damage the wind has done on its own. We are hoping to be open by about 2pm today, and we will be taking measures to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
