IN this week’s Worthing Herald (out today, Thursday, April 21) business owners in the Guildbourne Centre say they are on the verge of a financial meltdown.
Some store owners fear they will be forced to close within weeks if nothing is done by Worthing Borough Council to help lower the rates in the centre.
They also say more needs to be done to promote the centre now Somerfield has closed.
Letting agents Michael Jones, which is responsible for the marketing of the mall, said: “Plans to improve the centre are in the pipeline.
“We’re excited to say that we are currently in discussion with two, major retailers, to replace the former Somerfield store.
“However we must stress that, although these plans are in the pipeline, they can’t happen over night. Nor is anything set in stone.”
