An energetic dog from Worthing is set to star in the live semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent after a successful audition on the television show.

Cally showed off her unique talent, popping balloons, on Saturday’s (May 9) episode of the ITV programme hosted by Ant and Dec.

She failed in her bid to break the world record for fastest dog to burst 100 balloons, but she did win the hearts of the talent show judges.

Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams all gave the pooch the thumbs up to send Cally and owner Mitch into the live semi-finals.

On the show, Mitch said: “Balloon popping is just her favourite thing in the whole world. She lunges in like a savage.”

He explained that they hoped to break the world record held by an American dog, who popped 100 balloons in 44.9 seconds.

In response, Mr Cowell said: “This is really for Great Britain, isn’t it.”

Cally raced around the stage to the loud support of the audience as well as Ant, who yelled ‘come on Cally’ from the sidelines and added: “This dog is brilliant!”

She fell around five seconds short of the world record, breaking the balloons in 50 seconds.

Ahead of the pair’s next appearance at the end of the month, Cally and Mitch have been in front of the cameras in Horsham.

They were filmed for the show in Horsham Boxing Club in Horsham Park on Tuesday April 21.
