MOTORISTS driving past Worthing Fire Station should not be alarmed by this shocking sight – a car has not really crashed through the window.

But firefighters do hope the scene will make people think and help to get across the safe-driving message this Christmas.

Fire commander Roy Barraclough said: “A lot of people will see it when they drive past. We are highlighting the dangers of drink-driving, but also that the days are getting shorter and roads are getting slippery.

“We tend to see a rise in the number of accidents at this time of year. People are in a rush to get everywhere. We want to make people think a bit.

“A moment’s inattention can ruin your Christmas, and everyone else’s.

“We want people to have a nice Christmas, and we want one, too. We don’t want to be cutting people out of cars.”
