Car narrowly misses child after driving on pavement in Chichester

A car drove onto the pavement and nearly hit a child in Chichester yesterday (Thursday, March 12).

The incident happened in Donegall Avenue outside the community hall in Roussillon Park.

It was described as a 'serious incident' by the Chichester Community Development Trust (CCDT) which manages the park.

Parking guidance was then issued in a bid to prevent future incidents.

In a message sent out on social media, a spokesman for CCDT, said: "SERIOUS INCIDENT - Yesterday there was a near miss when a car drove onto the pavement to park outside Roussillon's community hall narrowly missing a child.

"Please be advised there is NO PARKING on pavements for safety reasons. Parking is ONLY in spaces along the green. Thank you."
