A COUPLE of basketball enthusiasts will raise money for a good cause when they aim to throw 1,000 free-throws this weekend.
Jamie Glencross, of Church Road, Tarring, and his friend, James Cobbett, of Nelson Road, Durrington, will look to complete the impressive basketball feat on Saturday (August 4) at Lyons Farm Recreation Ground.
The effort will involve Jamie, 26, and James, 21, throwing the ball into the basket from a distance of 15ft.
The pair will be raising money for Jamie’s charity, Cross Over Basketball, with funds going towards building a basketball academy in Uganda.
The challenge starts at 11am and Jamie is encouraging visitors to watch them on the day and make a donation if they like.
Jamie said the charity will visit Uganda on September 16 to run basketball coaching sessions for the children who attend and “to help them understand what basketball is about and help them engage with God through sport”.
